Palo Parado Bridge Project Home

The Palo Parado Road project intends to construct a road from the Interstate 19 interchange to Pendleton Drive that consists of a bridge over the Santa Cruz River, bank protection and a signalized at-grade crossing over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This project will provide 10,000 residential lots in northeast Rio Rico with more direct access to the border area, and it will also enhance transportation and public safety by providing a long-needed evacuation route across the river in the event of the anticipated 100-year flood. Palo Parado Road is within the high priority CANAMEX corridor as defined in the 1995 National Highway Systems Designation Act.
